You
got to have a visa to visit India and check that
the type of visa you apply for goes with your India Package.
If you stay in India for more than 120 days you need a
Tax Clearance Certificate to leave the country.
This is required to prove that your time in India was
financed with your own money and not by working in India
or by selling things or by playing the black market.
Certain places in India require special additional Permits. |

While
touring India you must have your Passport with
you all the time. A Health Certificate may be required
and an International Driving Permit if you plan
to get behind the wheels in India. |
| YOUR
LUGGAGE |
You
are allowed to brinideo cameras, are likely to be entered
on a 'Tourist Baggage Re-Export' form to ensure you take
them out with you when you go.
You are not allowed to bring Indian currency into the
country or take it out of the country.
You are allowed to bring in unlimited amount of foreign
currency or travellers' cheques, but are supposed to declare
anything over US$ 10,000 on arrival. |

All
money is supposed to be changed at official banks or moneychangers,
and you are supposed to be given an encashment certificate
for each transaction. |
| HEALTH |
A
small, straightforward medical kit is a wise thing to
carry. A kit should include medicines for pain or fever,
cold and allergies, stomach upsets and Bandages , Band-aids,
Scissors, Tweezers, Thermometer, Insect repellent, Sunscreen,
Suntan Lotion.
Be careful if buying drugs particularly where the expiry
date may have passed or correct storage conditions may
not have been followed. Bogus drugs are common.
If you wear glasses take a spare pair and your prescription.
Do not drink water that includes ice. Reputable brands
of bottled water or soft drinks are generally fine. The
simplest way of purifying water is to boil it thoroughly. |
