your own sturdy lock on the door does wonders for your
peace of mind. Padlock can also be used for locking luggage
in train berths. A knife (Swiss Army Knife), Insect repellent.

Keep
some handy food items like boiled eggs, potato chips while
travelling. Always drink Mineral water while travelling
as water borne diseases are common in India. Local brands
of Mineral Water- Bisleri, Kinley, Aquafina, Ganga etc.
